Holiday Market

The holiday season is always a busy time. If you've decided to sell your home in the coming months, you might be wondering how you can possibly get everything done. Having a skilled real estate agent on your side can really help. Working with one of our real estate agents will help keep you on-task and on schedule. A good agent will also make sure all loose ends are tied up, so you can spend more time enjoying the holidays. But how, exactly, do you prepare to sell your home during the holidays? Here are a few top tips.

  • List Your Home Before the Holidays
Many homeowners wait until after the holidays to list their homes. If you list yours earlier, before the holidays, you'll get a jump on the competition, so to speak. Meet with an agent ASAP, and make sure they know you're serious about listing your home sooner rather than later.

  • Make Sure the Home Is Weatherproof
Inspect your home, and make note of any shortcomings that might make the home more vulnerable in winter. Focus on fixing the small problems before you list the home. During the holiday season, fixing these issues is often more important than making cosmetic changes prior to sale.

  • Schedule Multiple Open Houses
You're not the only one who is busy this season. Buyers are busy, too! Since they may have a harder time fitting open houses into their schedule, it behooves you to schedule more than one open house. Consider scheduling one on the weekend and a second on a weeknight. This will help accommodate buyers whose weekends are overflowing with holiday commitments.

  • Go Easy on the Decorations
Yes, decorating for the holidays is part of the fun. But this probably is not the year for you to go all-out with festive decor. An overly decorated home may turn buyers off. They may have a hard time picturing the home when it's not decorated for the holidays. Or, they may have trouble imagining their own family enjoying their own holiday traditions in the home.

A few decorative touches are nice, but keep them simple and neutral. A festive wreath on the front door, some garland on the mantel, and a bowl of bulbs on the dining room table are really all you need.

  • Communicate With Your Agent
Remember that whenever you sell a home, your agent is there to support you and help you in any way they can. If you're feeling overwhelmed, need to reschedule an appointment, or are questioning anything about the sale, communicate your needs to your agent. They can address the situation so you can better relax and enjoy the holidays.

  • Keep the Home Cozy
This is a good time to turn the thermostat up a few degrees. Buyers often want a home to feel cozy around the holidays. Plus, with winter coming, they want to know the home has a good HVAC system. Turning the heat up a little helps reassure them of this.

Navigating the holiday housing market does come with some challenges. However, this can be a great time to sell a home if you approach it in the right way. Contact us if you're looking for an experienced agent to assist you with the sale of your home. We can also help you find the best Waco homes for sale.
